Memoir, ca. 1941-2002.

In a very well written memoir, Jesse E. Stay recounts his training and combat experiences from his time in service during World War II. He relates many memorable experiences such as a mission in which he flew as one of only two bombers because two others had crashed on take off and the mission had been canceled before the rest of the squadron could depart, but he and the second plane were unable to receive the cancellation. The mission was called "highly successful but disastrous" and Stay was met upon his return by the Commander of the Seventh Bomber Command, General Landon. There are several other grippingly detailed accounts of other missions related as well. Also included are several photocopied newspaper articles, photocopied photographs, and photocopied military documents.
